Report: Norwegian arrested for espionage works for N Stream-2

MOSCOW, Aug 19 (PRIME) -- A citizen of Norway arrested in Oslo and suspected of espionage is an employee of DNV GL, a contractor of Nord Stream 2, operator of the Russian gas pipeline project Nord Stream-2, news portal Upstream reported on Wednesday, citing a comment of the company.

The Norwegian Police Security Service (PST) earlier reported having arrested a man aged 50 suspected of communication of classified information to a Russian spy. The suspect can face 15 years in prison.

DNV GL confirmed that the arrested person was its employee but said that he did not have access to classified information.

Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet reported that a Russian with whom the Norwegian met has a diplomatic immunity and could not be arrested on the territory of Norway.
